4K UHD / 8 Megapixel
IP Cameras with 4k Resolution will have a minimum 8 Megapixel (MP) image. However, not all 8MP cams are rated as 4K, or Ultra High Definition. In order to be considered a "4K" IP Camera, it must comply with the SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) ST 2036-1UHDTV standard. This standard states "SMPTE ST 2036-1UHDTV Defines a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels with high color fidelity in a 16:9 format using progressive scanning at 25/30 Hertz (Hz)—which corresponds to 25 or 30 frames per second, depending on the country—and 50/60 Hz (50/60 fps)."
